My Story

FinalLogoBlack (2).png

I am Sara Gebre from Ethiopia, the originator of coffee. I am a mother of four boys. I moved to Colorado in 2004 from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I started Jebena Ethiopian Coffee & Culture inside a business incubator space in 2018.

I also was a participant at Comal Heritage Food Incubator an organization that trains refugee and immigrant women to get restaurant experience and Osage Café which trains young adults in skills needed in the culinary industry. I am currently one of the chefs and artisans who work with RBazzar which is an organization that helps immigrants and refugees promote their culture, food, and art.

The reason I started the business was to share my cultural food and coffee in a city that I raised my family and call home. As an immigrant woman in this country, my family and I have gotten help from different friends, communities, and organizations. Now it’s time for me to give back to the community in a way I’m good at.

My business offers traditional coffee ceremonies, roasted and ground coffee, catering, and cooking classes.
